ABOUT US
The New York Laureate Youth Orchestra
New York Laureate Youth Orchestra, also known as NYLO was founded in 2006 and has been registered as a non-profit organization in New York State by the founder, Kyoungsoo Kim.
The aim of the NYLO is to provide each talented young musician with a pre-professional orchestra training experience of the highest possible artistic standard. The NYLO strives to encourage the serious study and musical excellence among young musicians through its annual Young Artists Auditions. This is an experience that has been designed to be rewarding as well as educational
Since its beginnings, the Orchestra has flourished under the Variety Program and a network of caring faculty and parents, becoming a highly organized and increasingly skilled orchestra. The orchestra presents young musicians with the chance to study and establish masterworks and the exciting opportunity to premiere new music. Additionally, the orchestra offers a variety of unique enrichment experiences including working with professional guest artists.
NYLO presents a series of concerts each season as well as benefit concerts for our community.
The Youth Orchestra is actively involved in the community and has given performances in numerous places and under numerous conditions.
Students with many years of instrumental experience may audition.
The NYLO has at present a total of around 40 members between the ages of 12 and 22 and members are recruited annually through open audition.
The vision of the NYLO is to become a musical voice that embraces the entire New York community.
